Water Training for Hunting Dogs

Our water training for hunting dogs begins with the basics: Sit — Stay – Come – Heel. We do teach a “forced retrieve” and although this sounds like a punishing method, it is not. It is the best way to guarantee a solid retrieve under any circumstance. We will teach your dog to take a line and follow hand signals for out, in, left and right. During water training we teach your dog to remain calm in a hunting blind. They are then taught single and double retrieves as well as blind retrieves. As with upland bird dogs we will train from novice or improve your started dog.

This is also good advanced training for field dogs who may be used for ducks occasionally or are normally hunted in areas with ponds or lakes.
